Ankha is a sacred thread worn by Hindus and Sikhs as a sign of respect and reverence for the divine. It is believed to have originated in India and to have been used by the Hindu god Vishnu in his fight against the evil demon Narak. Ankhs are made from cotton or silk, often colorful, and are typically between 18 and 24 inches in length. They are also lent out as a sign of friendship.
